President Buhari Swears in Honourable Justice Tanko Muhammad as Chief Justice of Nigeria in State House on 24th July 2019. This followed his earlier confirmation by the Nigerian senate.
Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad , CFR was born 31st December 1953 at Doguwa - Giade, a local government area in Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria. He attended Government Secondary School, Azare where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1973 before he later proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University where he received a bachelor's degree in Law (Islamic Law) in 1980. He later obtained a Master and Doctorate (Ph. D) degree from the same university in 1984 and 1998 respectively.
On Thursday, 11th July, 2019, Tanko Muhammed was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as substantive CJN. This is coming barely 24 hours after National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended him to the president
