Nigeria Trashed Cameroun 3-2 to Qualify for AFCON Quarter Finals

Nigeria has advanced to the AFCON quarter finals after sending home the cup holders Cameroon with a 3-3 defeat in Alexandria Stadium.

Odion Ighalo scored twice and Alex Iwobi’s winning goal seals Cameroun’s fate of staying in the Africa Cup of Nations champions.

Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr paid the price for resting key players in the shock 2-0 loss to Madagascar, with Wilfred Ndidi, Kenneth Omeruo and Alex Iwobi all returning to the starting line-up.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles eliminated Cameroon in the first knockout round the last time they were reigning champions in 2004.

With this victory Nigeria now has a smooth sail to the quarter-finals
